How To Breed Beta Fish (Part 2)
Now that we have our beta fish tank and the breeding necessities we are ready for the beta fish.
When choosing a male and female beta fish it is important to choose wisely.
When learning how to breed beta fish it is a good idea to get beta fish that are active. I like to get beta fish with a little spunk or zip. Look for beta fish that are relatively young. You don't want to get beta fish that are too old. Any beta fish around 7 to 8 months old will be fine. I have also heard of breeders who use fish as old as 14 - 16 months and more.
It's also not a bad idea when learning how to breed beta fish, to have a couple of other beta fish in reserve just in case the two fish you pick out do not mate. Just because you have a male and a female do not mean they will breed.
Now that we have our beta fish we will want to introduce them to one another.
Place your male beta fish in the beta fish tank you prepared earlier and place the female close by in another bowl or tank so that she is in sight of the make beta fish.
When the male becomes aware of the female he should begin construction of a bubble nest. It is important to feed the male and the female brine shrimp so that they become conditioned for breeding.
Once you notice vertical lines appearing on the body of the female and notice that she has become fatter it is time to introduce her to the male.
