Beta Fish Tanks

When buying beta fish tanks one of the first things you should know is the size of tank you are looking for.

Beta fish do not require a large tank and many people have even placed their beta fish in a glass vase with some plants. I would recommend against this. Even though beta fish do not require much space they cannot live a healthy and happy life in a vase.

Beta Fish Tanks I would not recommend placing your beta fish in anything less then a 5-10 gallon aquarium or tank.

Beta fish tanks come in all shapes and sizes. Sizes range from 5 gallons up to over 100.

Another important question is what shape of beta fish tank to get.

What shape of beta fish tank will best fit your style or needs? As with sizes, tanks come many different shapes. They range from the well known rectangle tabletop tank to, floor standing hexagonal tanks and every thing in between.

Your next step is to see what accessories you will need. It is important to ensure your beta fish tank is equipped with a hood to ensure you beta fish does not jump out of the tank.

Beta Fish TanksMany hoods come with lights which are important if you plan on having live plants in your beta fish tanks.

Another important accessory is an air pump. Beta fish do not require much oxygen but it may be a good idea to have one for your tank.

You will also need a filtration system in your beta fish tank. Filters are important to help remove waste from the water as well as keeping the water pure for longer periods of time.

Beta fish are tropical fish and require warm water temperatures. Unless you have a lot of sunlight for warmth you will notice your beta fish acting sluggishly or refusing to eat if the water temperature is to cold. For this reason you will need a heater for your beta fish tank

Finally you are ready to purchase your first beta fish tank. Be sure to include some live plants, such as and gravel and your beta fish will be happy for years to come.
